Grades: 7-12

Cabins: Lower Camp

Elevate your equestrian prowess! For our intermediate and advanced older riders, saddle up for a journey of refinement as you advance your Western trotting skills, experience the thrill of bareback riding, and master the art of navigating poles at a higher gait. Perfect your riding posture and embark on extended trails that wind through the picturesque landscapes surrounding camp. Showcase your skills during the fun filled all-camp "rodeo" and get ready to experience all that camp has to offer. (Includes the potential for an out-of-camp multi-night hike/ride.) *Please note all campers will take a riding test. Their riding ability will determine their participation in certain equestrian activities and all riding is Western style. 

 

**Registration is open to all currently Girl Scout members, if you do not have a current Girl Scout membership and wish to purchase/renew with GSOC you may purchase one when registering for camp.

Those purchasing/renewing their memberships for councils outside of Orange County must go to www.girlscouts.org/join or log into your MYGS account and renew your campers Girl Scout membership.**

 

In Council Pricing: Individuals who are currently registered with Girl Scouts of Orange County or who are purchasing a membership with Girl Scouts of Orange County.

**Our three-tiered pricing program allows families to select a fee plan that works best for their financial situation, while also gaining an understanding of the true cost of operating Camp Scherman. While true cost varies by session, the average cost to operate camp is $1,605 per camper, per week, and this amount is subsidized by our council to ensure camp remains accessible to all. Every camper, regardless of the tier chosen, will enjoy the same unforgettable camp experience.

Accommodation Requests: Girl Scouts of Orange County welcomes the participation of ALL girl scouts and adults and aims to make our activities accessible for people with disabilities or specific needs. A confirmation email with all camp details will be sent to those registered at least 4-6 weeks before the camp. If you have any questions, please email customercare@girlscoutsoc.org.

GSOC follows current CDC COVID-19 guidelines. Camp participants will be notified if additional action is required.

This camp accepts GSOC Cookie Dough, GSOC OC Bucks, and GSOC Juliette Dollars! Girl Scouts must complete online registration and pay deposit or in full. Then fill out the Reimbursement form prior to participating in the camp.

Campership Assistance Fund:

Camperships are awarded to GSOC youth campers with a current Girl Scout membership on the basis of financial need only and are available for Camp Scherman summer sleepaway camps, Camp Scherman weekend camps and GSOC day camps. Camperships must be submitted no less than 6 weeks prior to the start day of the camp.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the camp. Cancellation requests must be in writing to CustomerCare@GirlScoutsoc.org. Please include the full names of those who cannot attend, the camp program name and the camp date. Please note that the $75 deposit per person is non-refundable.

More than 4 weeks prior to camp: Full refund minus $75 deposit per camper.

Less than 4 weeks prior to camp: No refund (except for medical reasons – must be approved by GSOC).
