Girl Scouts Love State Parks Chino Hills State Park

 

Join us for an exciting family and troop afternoon of fun and exploration at Chino Hills State Park! This event is open to all Councils and offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature.

Event Details:

  • Date: September 13, 2024
  • Time: Guided hikes start at 4:30 PM, with the last hike at 7:00 PM
  • Location: Chino Hills State Park

During this outdoor event, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Guided Hikes: Learn about biodiversity and habitats on a guided hike. Discover the habits of the plants and animals of Chino Hills State Park. Hikes are on a sign-up basis, limited to 20 participants per hike, and depart every 30 minutes.

  • Table Talks: Engage in educational discussions at our various table talks:

    • Biodiversity and Adaptation: Learn about plant and animal habits and adaptations.
    • Sky Talk: Explore our place in the solar system and understand how seasons affect the park.
    • Tracks and Traces: Identify animals by the tracks and traces they leave behind.

Additional Information:

  • Parking: $10 parking fee payable at the Kiosk. We recommend carpooling. Parking is available in the horse camp area.
  • What to Bring: Water bottles, sun protection, and dress appropriately for the heat.

Overnight Camping Opportunity:

After the event ends on September 13 at 7:00 PM, you have the option to stay overnight until September 14 at 9:00 AM. Our group campsites are primitive, so please come prepared:

  • Campsite Details:
    • Bring your own table, potable water, and camping gear (including tents, sleep mats, sleeping bags, etc.)
    • Restrooms are nearby, and showers are available 1 mile up the trail for a small fee ($0.25 for 5 minutes).
    • No open flames or charcoal fires are allowed. RVs are permitted.
  • Campsite Availability: There are 3 campsites available, with a limit of 20 people per site. These campsites are exclusive to Girl Scouts and open to families or troops.
