October Hike: Pumpkin Rock

Enjoy this 1.7-mile loop trail near Norco, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 53 minutes to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and horseback riding, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs are welcome and may be off leash in some areas.

How to Get to Pumpkin Rock:

Here's the trailhead address to use: Norco Animal Control Shelter, Norco, CA 92860, USA.

The trailhead is close to free public bathrooms; 2 minutes away from the trailhead parking at Pikes Peak Park (111 Sixth St, Norco, CA 92860).

There are a few ways to hike to Pumpkin Rock. Norco Hills has dozens of trails, and they all seem to crisscross and intertwine with each other. This route is preferable because it has plenty of parking, the trail is easy to follow without any scrambles, and there are bathrooms nearby.

Note that there's a "Pumpkin Rock Trailhead" location on Google, which is not this trailhead. You can hike there from that location but it's steeper, only offers street parking in a residential neighborhood, and isn't near bathrooms.

How to Get Your Patch:

Take a photo of you with the Pumpkin in the background! Upload it to Pumpkin Rock Trail. Only Girl Scouts who have registered for the Pumpkin Rock Trail hike and who are in the photo will receive a patch.

**This is not a drop-off event. Girl Scouts must attend with a registered adult troop leader or another designated responsible adult. Adults must register and attend to maintain required ratios. Family guests are welcome, and all attendees must be registered.
