November Hike: Car Wreck Trail

Level: All & Adults

Location: Laguna Niguel, CA

For this hike, you can choose between two routes: easy or hard!

Easy Route

Trail Length: 5 miles

Trail Level: Easy (Daisies & up)

Elevation: 200 feet

This out-and-back trail connects four trails into Aliso & Wood Canyons Park: Aliso Creek Trail (NOT Aliso Creek Trail East), Wood Canyon Trail, Dripping Cave Trail, and Care Wreck/Oak Grove Trail.

Parking: Park at the Aliso & Wood Canyons main entrance (28373 Alicia Pkwy, Laguna Niguel). Parking is $3, cash or card.

Hard Route

Trail Length: 5.7 miles

Trail Level: Hard (Cadettes & up)

Elevation: 900 feet

This loop trail connects five trails in Aliso & Wood Canyouns Park: West Ridge Trail, Mathis Canyon Trail, Car Wreck/Oak Grove Trail, Wood Canyon Trail, and Dripping Cave Trail. Go DOWN Car Wreck Trail and UP Mathis Canyon.

Parking: Park at Alta Laguna Park (3299 Alta Laguna Blvd, Laguna Beach) or on the street just outside the park. Parking is free.

*Please note that this is a self-guided, family hike (not a troop event).

What to Bring:

• Ten Essentials
• TP and plastic bags
• Sanitizer or handwipes
• Daypack
• First aid kit
• 1-2 liters of water per person
• Snacks
• Sunscreen
• Hat with brim
• Hiking shoes or lace-up sneakers

This activity is free.

Optional Patch purchase is $6.00. Price includes the patch, shipping and Handling. Patches will be shipped 2 weeks after the event ends. 

How to Get Your Patch:

Take a photo of you with the Car Wreck in the background! Upload it to Car Wreck Trail. Only Girl Scouts who have registered for the Car Wreck Trail hike and who are in the photo will receive a patch.

**This is not a drop-off event. Girl Scouts must attend with a registered adult troop leader or another designated responsible adult. Adults must register and attend to maintain required ratios. Family guests are welcome, and all attendees must be registered.

*This event is open to troops, Juliettes, and those with an active membership awaiting placement in a troop!
